Ten years from now when I look back on this project I will remember that only half of eligible voters actually vote. We wonder why certain laws are passed and politicians elected but if everyone used their voice it very well may be different. People say there voices don’t matter but that’s where they are wrong. The only reason they say that is because they aren’t using them. I hope that in ten years when I look back at the statistics I see that the numbers have changed for the better.
I think that schools across America should have 20% projects, it gives kids the tools and freedom to not only study what they want, but to learn how to self motivate and direct. This may be something they’ve never been exposed to. It’s possible they’ve never had the freedom to follow or find out what their passions are. As a young adolescent, I think that is one of the most important things to begin to discover about yourself. It’s showing youth that they are capable and they can do and create things without the help and guidance of an adult, micromanaging their every move. It’s empowering to a certain extent.
