So the 20% Project begins…We started this week brainstorming. We talked about dreaming big. We talked about Moonshots and reaching for things we couldn’t imagine. Then we listed local and global issues and who they specifically affected. We wrapped up this process with seeing how our projects could lead toward solving an issue locally or globally by aiming our project or end result toward a specific audience.
The first project idea that came to mind was Human Trafficking, as I feel strongly and passionately about this issue. People do not realize the extent that this is happening in our country, in our state and possibly in our town. I originally thought I could use my passion of art, to create a show bringing awareness to this issue. The art pieces would either be telling a story or giving information on this issue. I like this idea, I still like this idea, but I feel I could go bigger. I started talking with Grace and we began to discuss politics and the passion we share for the future of our country. A question came up “Why don’t youth vote?” It’s frustrating to have a large percentage of the population ignorant to our political system. We are very much considering collaborating with each other to find away to bring political awareness and passion to youth. We are struggling to come up with an end goal, a product, a dream, but we know we want to target youth and we are researching and brainstorming powerful and big ways to do that.
